Daisy and Iris on Nordic Kids

Daisy and Iris are on the Nordic Kids website which is a very nice website with rather lovely nordic clothes for children.

Which reminds me they wanted Daisy to try out some clothes which were supposed to be very good for children with eczema, i must follow up on that.

It's Glastonbury weekend

Yes it's Glastonbury this weekend.
We tried to get tickets a while back but failed, ah well, don't think Daisy's little pink wellies would have coped too well with all that mud.

I just realised that if we did have tickets we'd have definitely gone, chicken pox or no chicken pox at that price, so we could have potentially given chicken pox to thousands and thousands of people, excellent.

Just read about some cardboard tents called Myhabs which "sleep two and are made from recyclable cardboard sheets attached to a reusable plastic frame" and before you point out the cardboard doesn't usually fare well with rain, showers, morning dew ... "According to Dunlop they will withstand five days of even the heaviest of Somerset storms."

Can you believe that "Glastonbury throw away some 10,000 abandoned tents at the end of events each year" oh my god, next year i'm hiring a van and hanging around until Monday night and packing up as many tents as i can fit in the van and then i'm flogging them all on ebay.
"DISCARDED GLASTONBURY TENTS WITH FREE MUD INCLUDED"

In fact why on earth don't Glastonbury employ people to do exactly that and give the profits to Shelter or summit.

A very old video of Daisy

Here is a very old video of Daisy at 13 months with some friends: Isabella, Leonardo and Joseph.

She couldn't walk then so she couldn't get into too much trouble.

spots, spots and more spots

Any keen astronomers out there might find the plough within these spots.

This was taken last night in her bath of Bicarbonate of Soda.

Honestly the poor thing is covered in them front and back, there are lots under her hair as well, the ones on the back of her head must have been rubbing on the sheet last night as this was where she kept trying to itch.

No spots appeared yet on Daisy.

Happy Fathers Day

Here is a rather out of tune little video singing message from Daisy to all daddies on Fathers Day but especially her own.

Spotty Iris

Even more spots today so it must be The Pox.
Poor little thing.

She's still happy though.

Daisy & Liberty

Here are a few pics of Daisy and Liberty playing.
Liberty having a big brother is used to wrestling, Daisy of course not having a big brother isn't, but she loved it.

And here is a pic of Liberty

Chicken Pox!!!

Arggg will it never end?
We believe Iris has chicken pox! We haven't seen a doctor or anything but it sure looks like it.

This morning i thought Iris had caught Daisy's Molluscum Contagiosum as she had around 15 little spots with what looked like heads coming, but when i've taken her clothes off tonight for a bath she has over 30 with heads/blisters!

Daisy's molluscum never escalated like that, and they were in clusters on her torso or you could see how it had spread to another part of her body from scratching and it spreading. Iris's spots are all over her torso front and back, a couple on her neck, face, in her hair and she doesn't scratch them so i don't think it's molluscum.

Also the molluscum's have a dip in the centre which holds the core (it is this core touching other skin that spreads it) These spots don't seem to have the dip in the centre so i'm pretty sure it must be Chicken Pox.

Poor Iris honestly if it's not one thing it's another.

They say that the second child usually catches everything, well this second child is living up to that one.

Both photos were taken today, the first at 9.40am, the second at 6.20pm.

The Wiggles

Daisy, Lex & Iris and all us parents went to see The Wiggles yesterday at Hammersmith Apollo and it was actually quite good fun. Obviously most of our fun was had via Daisy and Lex who are both completely in love with Jeff Wiggle.

from left to right it's Jeff, Anthony, Sam (the new Greg) and Murray.

This is Dorothy the dinosaur.

This is Jeff Wiggle who regularly falls asleep and has to be woken up with lots of shouting.

This is Anthony Wiggle (by far the most handsome) with Henry the Octopus.

Daisy's Nursery

Here is one of a set of photographs i took for Daisy's nursery.

This is Daisy's class.

Daisy was so excited about me taking the photographs that she kept lifting her dress up in most of them, this was one of the best ones.

Iris all blotchy.

Iris is not in hospital!
Sorry, i just re-read the post and it does sound like she is in hospital, but she's not. The hospital sent us home straight away and told us to keep her in for a few days in case it is measles, but it's not, her blotches have come down now.
All is well.

Last night we noticed that Iris had a blotchy forehead, a little worrying but her temperature was down so we thought she was probably ok and hopefully the blotchy rash would have disappeared by morning.
In the morning it had spread down her face and her neck, so we thought we should get it checked out. By the time we got to A&E it was down both her front and her back.

Iris was examined by a nurse and we were moved to a room all on our own just in case it was measles. When the doc turned up he said although all the symptoms suggest measles, her general state of mind doesn't, she was too happy and smiley. Apparently with measles you should be thoroughly miserable. They are doing tests and will let us know soon.

Hopefully it isn't measles but just her nasty virus making it's way out of her through her skin, or it's another entirely non-related virus which just happens to look like measles symptoms. Whether it is or it isn't, she has to be kept in for around 3/4 days so as not to spread whatever it is to anyone else.

Above is a really rubbish photograph i took on my phone trying to capture the blotches but it doesn't capture them at all, all you can see it a bit of a red mark on her forehead.

Oh by the way Iris was weighed at A&E and she is now 8.38kg with all her clothes on and a tummy full of 3 days poo. (i know this because about 45 mins later she did lots of the stuff whilst she was nappy free, we were trying to catch a urine sample)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO 'THE VALENTINES'

Tomorrow UK time (today NZ time) is The Valentine's birthdays.
Sarah will be 38 and her little boy Charlie will be 3.
Fancy that both of their birthdays being on the very same day.

You would think that both of their birthday's being on the very same days would enable me to get it together to send them a card or a present (i did last year!) but alas this year i didn't manage it, so instead here is a rather shoddily put together birthday film for you both.

(nobody tell Fred it's up there or she'll laugh at my rubbish editing skills)

webshite gone on hols for a short time.

My main webshite has gone on hols for a little while, and all emails via that web address will probably bounce. (blueyonder should still work though)
Easyspace are taking over hosting the URL and the website itself and i'm waiting for the DNS to be pointed to Easyspace.
(i have no idea what that actually means by the way)

Hopefully my webshite and related email address will return home from holidays early next week and be available for all to see again.

(i am actually in the middle of updating my old site with new photos, so watch this space in a couple of months time)

Iris poorly still...

Poor old Iris, after her temperature kept shooting up past 39c, we phoned NHS direct, who 'surprise surprise' advised us to take her somewhere to be checked out. They then booked an appointment for us up at the walk in doc clinic up at homerton hospital.
Don't get me wrong, I think the NHS direct is a really good service, but, sometimes it seems like you might as well just go straight to A&E or a walk in doctors service if it's out of hours.
I tend to think of NHS direct as someone to call to give you a reason to take your child to A&E.

Anyway though the doctor examined her and said she has a very sore throat and a nasty virus, so she has to be given paracetomol and ibuprofen at regular intervals until her temperature stays down.

She woke up this morning with one of her eyes stuck together.

Poor little Iris.

Iris is a bit poorly

Oh dear, she has a cold again, she started off with a cough and a cold last week, then it seemed to clear up and now her nose is all bunged up again and she has a high temperture of 38.8c.
Hopefully the calpol will bring her temp down again.

Here are some photos of the girls earlier today.

If you look closely you can see Iris has runny eyes, she always gets runny eyes when she's a bit poorly.

Even though these photo's do not show it, she is actually still her usual happy self, still smiling away, bless her.

Grandma & Roger

Grandma Margaret (Marc's mum) and Grandad Roger (her husband) came over for a visit.
We took them for a walk up to Tottenham Marshes. (previous post) We like to go up cos it's a little bit like being out of London.

Here are some photographs that Margaret took.

Daisy in her favourite place: on Daddy's shoulders.

Daisy dancing to her own special song.

The girls holding hands Daddy and Roger's shoulders.

Video of the girls on the shoulders.

Iris had been in the backpack for the walk up until now, but we decided to swap.

I carried Daisy for about 15/20mins and it was ok, not too heavy but i wouldn't have wanted to carry her for much more than that though, she was starting to weigh me down, she does weigh 17kg afterall!!!

Both girls loved the swap, Iris had the biggest grin on her face and clutched on to Daddy's hair to keep her balance.
