Iris' two favourite toys

Iris loves Russian Dollies, she currently has two sets, and Iris loves the wooden dolls house.
She will play for hours on her own (well sometimes it feels like hours) with these two toys.

Recently, Polly Pocket and Playmobile have been getting in on the action too.

Iris did not approve of the way i was positioning these Russian dollies for these shots, as soon as i was finished she changed it all.

The Harvest Festival

Daisy's school and Iris' nursery walked down the to local church (which happens to be opposite our house) to be part of the Harvest Festival.

It was very sweet.
The reception class sang a song about a big red tractor.
Daisy's class told the story of the Enormous Turnip.
and older children told poems.

A few songs were song too but i have forgotten what they were now, something Harvesty related i'm sure.

This is Iris arriving at the church with her nursery.
And this is Daisy right in the middle (in case you can't spot her) amongst all her classmates telling a very animated story about a very stubborn turnip.

'Peter' becomes 'Woody', becomes 'Hamster'

He is officially called Hamster now, and sometimes even Hamperster.

Sorry this is all i could get of him.

I will try to get better soon.

Issy came to visit

We looked after our neighbours dog on Monday and Tuesday, she stayed overnight and was as good as gold, we didn't hear a peep out of her.

Thankfully the weather was lovely so it made dog walking a pleasure, i'm not sure dog walking would be such a pleasure in the rain.

Peter becomes Woody

Apparently Peter Pan has had his name changed to Woody.

Still haven't taken a photo of him, he's very very quick and kind of slippery yet furry.

We have a hamster

The girls really wanted a pet, i wasn't so keen, but when i saw a hamster cage advertised on freecycle, i nabbed it double quick, knowing full well that one of Daisy's school friends 'Mark' had lots of baby hamsters needing homes.

School friend Mark's mummy Tanya gave us a baby male Russian dwarf hamster yesterday and it is now settling into it's new home.
It is called Peter Pan, although Iris really wanted to call it Ariel the little mermaid.
Iris isn't that keen on Peter Pan either, but as long as we use it's full show name of 'Peter Pan Fluffy Fluff' then she is ok.

I think we should have called it Gimli, seeing as it's a dwarf and it's quite hairy.
Gimli is in Lord of the Rings.

When little Peter plucks up enough courage to show his face then i'll take a picture of him.

Pony riding with The Hamiltons

Here are lots of photographs of girls (mostly Daisy) riding a rather rotund pony called ... hmmmm i can't remember his name, but he was a boy pony and very placid.

What on earth was his name, hopefully it will come to me soon.

Rachel leading the pony with Freya on his back.

Iris didn't want to go on the ponies back at all, she was a bit scared of the pony.
Iris keeping a safe distance away from the pony, with Josh.
Pretty Freya with a crusty nose.
This is only about 15 mins walk from their house.
It's amazing isn't it.
Back up the hill away from the lovely little beach and river.
Daisy very pleased with herself on a pony.

For some reason i have no pictures of Pippa on the pony even though she rode it just as much as Freya and Daisy, Pippa loved riding the pony and basically cried all the time that she was off the pony, Pippa really loves riding ponies.

Thank god Daisy hasn't really mentioned it since, even though she really loved it too.

Visiting The Hamiltons

We went a visiting The Hamiltons last weekend (26th & 27th Sept) and had a lovely time, well most of us had a lovely time, Marc came down with a nasty sickness bug that had him up in the night and in bed for most of the day on Sunday, poor Marc.
He's only just recovering now.
Subsequently, Iris was sick once in the night both on Sunday & Monday and then Daisy was sick last night four times.
Sickness bugs are a pain in the bottom, the washing that goes with it really sets you back. Dreadful i tell you.
I've been ok, fingers crossed and all that.

Anyway the girls had a fabulous time with The Hamiltons, Daisy gets on very well with Freya and Iris is just starting to play with Pippa now that they are both 3.

Here are some photographs of them all playing in the lanes, Rachel and Josh's lanes are virtually empty so it's great for us all to walk up and down picking blackberries and sloes at our leisure.
Which reminds me i must find a recipe for Sloe Gin... oh here is one i just found.

(More photos to follow tomorrow of Daisy on a pony.)

Daisy is the eldest, she is 5 months older than Freya, Pippa and Iris are only about 10 days apart in age.

Iris' birthday

Oh i forgot to mention that it was Iris' birthday whilst we were away in London.
She was 3.
Happy birthday to big girl Iris.

Here she is reading her favourite book which we bought just before we left the big smoke under the promise that we would probably get a dog.
We haven't gotten a dog, yet.
Probably won't get a dog for a while.

This book is one of those little Collins books of 130 popular breeds of dogs.
Both girls love this book, Iris especially loves this book at the moment.
She likes to find Tilly and Bentley dogs in there, and then show me her favourite dog, which changes quite often. Barney dog isn't in there for some reason.

Monster at the bottom of our garden

Daisy and Iris were allowed to play with mud at the bottom of our garden.
Iris remained clean, and Daisy did not.

For your information Dad, that huge pile of twigs & branches & brambles & suitable bonfire material that you can see below on the right is no more.
We have had a lovely big bonfire and we thought of you.

Playing with a bit of polystyrene

These photographs were taken a little while ago when we had some sunny weather.
I can confirm the weather in Somerset is yuk at the moment, it's cold, dull, and rain is imminent.

I think this bit of polystyrene must have come with the play house, it looks like it had something to do with the windows.
Talking of which we took out one of the panes of glass (plastic) whilst it was very hot, and now we can't find that last pane of glass. bum.

The girls found this in the shop somewhere and enjoyed playing and posing with the polystyrene window. The polystyrene window has now been broken up and chucked away.

Here is Iris with a mucky face.
This is the girls interpretation of something yuk.
This is the girls interpretation of something happy.
This is the girls interpretation of something very sad.
This is the girls interpretation of something very shocking.
And this is just Daisy.

Wow where has the time gone?

Such a lot has been happening and i had temporarily forgotten all about this little blog, but i have now returned.

What have we done these last three weeks you ask?
* We visited London and saw some lovely friends.
* We visited Kent and saw more lovely friends.
* We traveled back to Somerset to allow Daisy to start her new year as a 1st Year and Iris to start at nursery for the first time. Big girls now
* We dumped the big/small girls off at Auntie Emma's and traveled back up to London to stay one night at Gordon & Lucy's on route to Nick & Helen's wedding in Suffolk.
* We went to a marvelous wedding in Suffolk.
* We drove all the way from Suffolk to Somerset, and it wasn't too bad, i guess it was about 4 and a half hours, maybe a smidge more.
* Nana and Grandad came to stay and blitzed the back of our garden. (i really should have done a before and after shot, and i forgot, i damn well forgot.)

That seems quite a lot to have done in three weeks.

Here are a couple of photographs of the girls on their first day back at school/nursery.

We're going to London to visit the queen

tomorrow...
for about a week, then we're over for a quick trip to Kent to visit Run & Lisa.

I will miss our little home whilst we are away, though i won't miss our cooker, which is very slowly packing up.
Mum, the top oven doesn't really work anymore, and the grill only works on one side, so on our return i will have to investigate a new, second hand one, before you come to stay otherwise you can only fry or boil.

I'm not totally sure London will let us back in, by the way.

Pirate Thursdays in Brixham

Every Thursday in the summer is Pirate Thursday in Brixham, thanks to the Brixham Buccaneers, i think i blogged about it last summer, hang on i'll go and have a look...

... yes here is a link to last year with a Captain Jack Sparrow.

But look-e-like-e-Depp wasn't there this time, though i'm told he does still come down sometimes, he's probably all famous like now and doesn't get out of bed for less than £2.95 and a packet of mints.
But a lady with a parrot on her shoulder was there, however when we finally managed to make our way through the crowds, she answered her mobile phone, and then stayed on her phone chatting away for ages, i mean it was probably about 8 mins.
There were loads of people waiting to pet the parrot.
Somehow i don't think she was in character.

But we did manage to pet the parrot, even if Daisy was quite unsure about the whole thing.
We did however meet a real live mermaid, who read us a story, she said she was a friend of Ariel's which was all very exciting.
