Daisy's Nightmare

Daisy woke in the night, crying and crying, when i got to her room, she was out of her bed and standing at her door in the pitch black. I led her back to bed and picked her up and put her back into bed but she wouldn't lie down, she kept asking for a story, but i told her it was night time and we were all asleep so she couldn't have any stories.

I sat with her for a while trying to settle her down, but then she suddenly scared the life out of me, we are sitting there in the pitch black and she suddenly tells me there was a 'man on/in her bed'!

Well i immediately start to think the worse and worry that somebody has broken in the house etc... but then i realise it must be a nightmare. I tell her that there is no man and it might have been a dream but it's gone now.

She settled down a bit so i go back to bed, but she starts up again, so marc goes down to try to settle her, and in the end he gives her a book and leaves the light on a little bit.
The book she asks for is Za Za's baby brother, a book Kate and Ben lent us about getting used to having a new baby in the house, strange.

At around 7am, she wakes up hysterical, screaming and crying, wanting to go downstairs immediately for breakfast, we try coaxing her into our room for a little while but just stands at the top of the stairs by the gate just crying and screaming,

In the end after a few stern words she calms down and comes into our bed sobbing silently into her chicken.
Then she tells us about the man on/in her bed, she tells us:
he was cross,
he wasn't shouting though,
he was looking for his shoes,
he was eating a sandwich
he was old (like a grandad)
he was black
he was wearing blue

and it was like before (she has had this dream before)

It's scary to think that a two year old can conjure up such dreams which obviously terrify her and the fact that she says she has dreamt it before.

Poor little Daisy.
